Game Concept Thread

Came up with this themed game this morning that I want to host for M3. Any comments/suggestions?

M_: Devils in the Dust
(14 Players / Cardflip)

A horde of demons invades a small, western town in the dusty 1890s. They can take on human looks during the day and do nasty deeds at night. Can they be stopped?

The Demons
Overlord: The leader of the Demons. Their Lynch Vote counts as 2 instead of one. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Corrupter: Can choose a player each Night whose ability, if used and if they have one, will be used on a random target instead of their choice. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Possessor: Can choose a player each Night to possess. They will become one with the target, meaning that they will learn all PMs sent to and by the target for that Night.If any abilities are used on the target/Possessor, they will affect both. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.

The Town
Sheriff: Can find out the Cardflip colour of any player each Night. If they target the Possessor while they are possessing a target, only the target's colour will be returned.
Ranger: Can kill a player each Night. If they kill a member of the Town, they will lose their ability for the next Night.
Exorcist: Can safeguard a player each Night from ability usage by the Demons.
Deacon: Takes on the Exorcist’s ability if the Exorcist dies.

Third Party
Toxic Tumbleweed: Can poison a player each Night. Poisoned players will Cardflip Yellow for that Night, the following Day, and then die at the end of the following Night (if they aren't already killed or Lynched).

Game Mechanics
Cardflip: The colour of players will be revealed upon death, but not the true colour if their colour was changed by an ability.

it's not finished yet but whatever. actual role names in parenthesis at the end of each role
this ended up basically being a basic game with a Kirby coat of paint. the only major difference is that the Knights (Meta and Galacta) will probably be different


M_: Revenge of Mafia Knight
(13 Players, Cardflip)

Meta Knight's at it again! He's reconstructed the Halberd, and he's going back to try and take over Dream Land once more! Boarding the Battleship Halberd, our heroes have put it upon themselves to blend in. The Meta-Knights are going to have to work overtime if they want to take over Dream Land, but some miscommunication between the citizens of Dream Land means that even they don't know who's who...

The Meta-Knights
Meta Knight - Cardflips blue.
Sailor Dee - Doesn't stand out compared to other Waddle Dees. Cardflips green. (Godfather)
Captain Vul - Can sic the Heavy Lobster on someone. The paint from the Heavy Lobster makes the target cardflip red for the next phase. (Painter)

Dream Landers
Kirby - Can freely choose to fight anyone at any time. Being Kirby, he'll win and his target is thrown out. (Vigilante)
King Dedede - He brought a lot of food which he can share with someone else every night. This way they'll have supplies and can hide without being thrown out. (Doctor)
Adeleine - Ever the artist, she can inspect people and find out their colour. She just has an eye for that sort of thing, you know? (Sheriff)
Bandana Dee - Being the king's servant, he has access to and can rig the polls and make his vote count for two. (Doublevoter)
Waddle Dee

Waddle Doo - Seems suspicious, although he's just one of Kirby's helpers. Cardflips red. (Miller)
Blade Knight - Seems suspicious, although he's just one of Kirby's helpers. Cardflips hot pink. (Millwright)

what needs to be changed:

  • Meta Knight's role needs to be properly determined
  • Galacta Knight's role needs to be determined
  • probably most of the game???

changelog (15/8/16):

  • removed the generic mafiosos, Axe Knight and Mace Knight
  • removed Dyna Blade
  • removed a Waddle Dee
  • Bandana Dee now cardflips green

edited Revenge of Mafia Knight for balance purposes, but some roles are still undecided
