M4: Host Sign-ups

Post by PixelPest on Tue Sep 13, 2016 9:02 am

Want to host your own game of Mafia for others to play? Then now's the time! Post your game in this thread. Sorry, but Spinda won't be hosting this one.

In terms of feedback:

  • Any feedback given in Red at the bottom of your post states anything that must be changed for your game to go to the polls.
  • Any feedback given in Yellow at the bottom of your post states anything that should be changed to make your game better, but isn't required to be fixed for your game to go to the polls.
  • Any feedback given in Green is all good.

Games should contain 12-18 players. If you want to host a Mystery Game, please PM Blueoak and myself the roles

M32+: Gensokian Mafia 1
Code:
Lore: Everyone in the town has decided it would be a great idea to Cosplay as different Touhou characters, yet when they got the the castle, they were locked in and were given abilities equivalent to the character they chose to Cosplay as.

Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) Mansion: Outnumber “The Town” and Moriya Shrine Gods.
Collective Knock-out message:
From the looks of it, it appears __________ is now no longer above ground.

Satori Komeiji: Can read a person’s mind to see who they are cosplaying as. (Checks Color and Role)
Rin Kaenbyou: Can look though a person’s memories and to see every action they did when they were alive (not knocked out)
Koishi Komeiji: Every other night phase, she can alter Aya Shameimaru’s paper before it is published. If not used, this can be stacked to be used multiple nights in a row, but must wait just as long before using it again once she misses a night afterwards; however, if Aya Shameimaru is knocked out, she can manipulate one person’s lynch vote once every other day phase.

“The Town”: Knockout all residents of the Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) mansion, and the Moriya Shrine Gods.
Reimu Hakurei: Being the Shrine maiden, she can figure out who any one is cosplaying as, but it can only be done once every dawn. (Only checks color) Is in contact with Marisa Kirisame.
Marisa Kirisame: Can use her magic knockout anyone, but if she knocks out someone on her team, she is knocked out by their retaliation in stead. Is in contact with Reimu Hakurei.
Knock-out message:
Everyone wakes up in the middle of the night to see that someone that looks like Marisa Shot a giant Master spark at _______ room, they did not catch who was dressed as Marisa though.
Self-Knock-out message:
Upon further inspection of _______'s room (or what is left of it), it seems that everyone is keen on saying Marisa's Cos-player is not fit to be with everyone and spy to see who she really was. ________ has also been knocked-out.

Code:
Is a continuation of the previous string with the arguments: <Who Marisa killed, Marisa>
Aya Shameimaru: Can write a newspaper article every night to display during the next phase shift.
Yukari Yakumo: Can trap a person in her gaps/voids every night. (The trapped player is publicly revealed who is trapped, but their color and role remain unknown.) The following day, they can not speak; however, their lynch vote can still count if Yukari agrees with it. (The silenced person's Ballot Box vote only goes through if Yukari has voted the same person.)
Message:
_______ has been trapped in the gap between boundaries.

Suika Ibuki: Due to her strength and anti-soberism, she is immune to the first two attempts to knock her out, but if she is attempted to be knocked out during the night, the person who attempted the feat is also knocked out. (Unless they were the residents of the Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) mansion.
Nitori Kawashiro: With her inventions, can give a player a radar once per night (via mail). When they receive the mail with the radar in it, they will be informed they can search one person to see who she is cosplaying as.

System wrote:_______, you can now use a radar on one person of choice.
Patchouli Knowledge: Once during the Entire game, can use her magic to knock someone out, or protect someone. (If the Magic does not knock anyone out, or if the protected person does not get attacked; she can still use her magic.) Gets one use each.
Knock-out Message:
When everyone wakes up, they see _______ knocked-out on the floor with the area covered in where lasers hit everything.
Protection message:
_______ wakes up to see her room is barricaded by a one way sheild.

Alice Margatroid: Up to four times in the entire game, can protect someone with a doll every night. (Phase shift notifies when they are destroyed, they can stack, and do not go away. Can change where they are instead of sending one out to protect someone though.)
Protection message:
_________ noticed a battle outside her door last night. It ended with an exploding doll. (Number of Doll)

Moriya Shrine Gods: Outnumber “The Town”, and knockout the residents of the Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) mansion.
Collective Knock-out Message:
________ has been knocked out when they were praying last night.

Kanako Yasaka: Can convince one person per game (During Dawn) to help her cause. Immune to night kills.
Suwako Moriya: Once every other night, can protect Kanako Yasaka from a lynch vote by sacrificing herself. (Switches roles with Kanako's but only when Kanako would be lynched successfully and the Twilight phase after the Dawn phase she used this ability.)
Sanae Kochiya: Can check on any one person to learn who they are cosplaying as. (Only Color)

Other
Utsuho Reiuji: Choices a team at the start (Moriya Shrine Gods or Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) Mansion). Can kill any person once per night. If she kills her teammates), she can not use this ability for two nights.
Knocked-out Message:
________ has had her outfit burned asunder and all that remains is a shred of clothing that belonged to ________. <Username, Role>

Mechanics:

  • Pseudo-Faction.
  • Role & Color Flip
  • Newspaper.
  • Dawn-->Twilight (Night then Day)
  • No Contact.
  • Collective kill only when 66% or more agree to kill the same person. (Red and Yellow teams) (This is a ballot box between the members of that team.)
  • Sheriff for each team.

PixelPest wrote:I see some major issues with this game. Primarily, four killing abilities is way too much for such a small game. Although one can only be used once, three is still way too many, especially when two could belong to the Third Party. Kanako Yasaka is also super OP.
Also, now that this is not a Mystery Game, three Sheriff roles is really unneeded, especially when they have Roleflip inspections. When Suwako Moriya chooses to sacrifice herself, does she still die if the person she's protecting doesn't get Lynched? How does Yukari Yakumo agree or disagree with a player's Lynch vote if they are unable to speak, therefore not cast a Lynch Vote. Besides these, there are further clarity and balance issues.

Still crazy complicated but I guess it will do.

Rehauling my M33 game with fewer roles and simpler explanations.

Luigi's Fight for the Mushroom Kingdom

14 players, cardflip.

"Luigi and Toad arrive underground and notice that it's civilized. With Toads.

The thing is that these toads are extremely abnormal for some reason ..."

Wario and Waluigi, who are trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom, and some fellow toads of his, called the Outlandish Toads, are trying to infect all of the civil toads living in the underworld. If they can kill all of the civil toads, they'll be one important step closer to conquering the world.

If a player dies at night, the way they died will be revealed. If an attack failed, there will only be the message "an attempt was made on their life", this doesn't allow to distinguish an actual night immunity from being safed by the doctor.

Player's goals are common.

--- Outlandish Toads --- 3 players

Devil Toad: The most prominent member of the Outlandish Toads. Can find out the exact role of a toad at night, cardflips green himself upon inspection.
Wizard Toad: Can cast a spell on another toad, blocking their ability for the night.
Cat-Suit Toad: A generic outlandish toad. The Outlandish Toads collaboratively decide to kill a player at night by throwing a poison mushroom into their stomach.

--- Civil Toads --- 10 players

Captain Toad: Leader of the fellow toads. Can inspect a player at night (learning their alignment).
Doctor Toad: Can save a toad from night attacks. Can heal himself once through the game.
Gunsmith Toad: Has a supply of 3 bullets they can use to shoot a toad. If they kill an innocent, they'll lose their remaining bullets.
Tanooki Toad: Can turn himself into a statue three times to make himself immune to the Outlandish Toads, but not to the ghost.

Green Toad: No special abilities.
Green Toad:
Green Toad:
Green Toad:
Green Toad:

Red Toad: Appears to be outlandish. For some reason they don't know themselves about being suspicious.

--- Third Party Toad --- 1 player

Ghost: A desperate toad who committed suicide and his ghost will try to exterminate everyone for revenge. Can kill a person each night by haunting; is immune to nightkills (but can be still inspected or roleblocked). Once through the game, they can also choose to stay home to haunt everyone who visits them. Must be the last player standing to win.

PixelPest wrote:Looks pretty good. It's well balanced, but does Captain Toad's inspection return Cardflip colour or role? Also, does the Ghost's Night Immunity immunity to Abilities and Nightkills or just Nightkills.

(credits to the magical Wilson Zhang for many aspects of this game, even though he stole the concept from me)

Voyage to Refuge

Terrorists
Militant Dictator - Grew up as a refugee but rose to power and decided to kill all refugees. Cardflips purple. Works with the other Terrorists to kill all the Refugees and Citizens.
Corrupt Systems Engineer - Chooses a player every night. Any host messages sent to that player (including Role PM) will be forwarded to him. Works with the other Terrorists to kill all the Refugees and Citizens.
Security Guard - May choose a player each night. If that player was to be dealt, they will be killed instead. If they were not going to be dealt, he loses this ability for the next night. Works with the other Terrorists to kill all the Refugees and Citizens.

Citizens
Detective - Chooses a player each night to learn their cardlflip. Works with the Citizens to defeat the Terrorists.
Pharmacist - Chooses a player each night. That player will be able to survive that night if they die. Works with the Citizens to defeat the Terrorists.
Smuggler - Chooses a player each night. They will be *dealt. Works with the Citizens to defeat the Terrorists.
Citizen
Citizen
Citizen
Citizen
Extremist - Thinks they are a normal Citizen.

Refugees and Resistance
Resistance Leader - Each night, may choose a player to hide. After at least 2 people are in hiding, he may choose to *deal all the hidden players. Reacts as a Citizen if dealt by the Smuggler.
Refugee
Refugee
Refugee

Dealt:
-If the player is a Terrorist, the person dealing them will die.
-If the player is a Citizen or Resistance Leader, they will return to normal playing.
-If the player is a Refugee, they will escape. Gameplay-wise they will be dead, but wincon-wise they will still be alive.

The Terrorists win if they outnumber the Citizens and Refugees.
The Refugees win if all the living Refugees escape (even if only one escapes)
The Citizens win if the Terrorists are all eliminated.

Priority

  1. Pharmacist Healing
  2. Security Check
  3. Being Dealt
  4. Terrorist Collective Kill

I'm not really sure about a few of the mechanics here, please help me decide if it's good as is or not.

PixelPest wrote:Just with how difficult it is to get rid of all of the Refugees, it might be better just to have two.
The dealing mechanic seems interesting as well.

A: will revise the killing roles down a little, although I only saw three to begin with. On top of that, the two that can be used more than once have huge drawbacks.
B: Will revise Kanako's role.
C: Since no one is in contact with each other, how else would that work? (Sheriff-based abilities.)
D: Suwako only gets knocked-out instead if the lynch is successful. ...However, since the role is used at night (Dawn), the following day has to be the lynch, or she has to wait two nights for another lynch protection.
E: For Yukari's ability, the person in question ballot box votes, and if it is the same as Yukari's then it goes though.

Looks like I only have to fix Issues A and B?

No, because you need to clarify everything else. Even if I was mistaken, it's because you didn't make something clear enough

M__: Biohazard Beatdown
(Cardflip / 14 Players)

The company S.L.U.D.G.E. is producing large amounts of toxic waste and biohazard weapons to use against the Town. Can they be stopped?

S.L.U.D.G.E.
Normal Mafia win conditions.
President: Elected to the presidential position by the other members S.L.U.D.G.E. due to their cunning nature but seen to the Town as nothing more than a normal, well-respected businessperson. They are the leader of the group and can also collaborate with their S.L.U.D.G.E. cohorts to kill a player each Night.
Biohazard Specialist: They can poison a player each Night, changing their colour for the following Day phase into either Red, Orange, Blue, or Green. They can also collaborate with their S.L.U.D.G.E. cohorts to kill a player each Night.
Head Janitor: A member of the S.L.U.D.G.E janitorial staff. They can abduct a player and lock them in the janitorial closet each Night, making them silenced for that time and unable to use their ability if they have one. They can also collaborate with their S.L.U.D.G.E. cohorts to kill a player each Night.

The Town
Normal Town win conditions.
Head of Defence: Can choose a player each Night. They will be able to see all messages sent by and received by their target for the duration of that Night.
Hacker Guy: Some random loner  who can post an anonymous message at the end of each Night.
Dilution Specialist: A scientist who can safeguard a player each Night, making them immune to Nightkills made by S.L.U.D.G.E.
Forensics Ninja: A knowledgeable scientist who can inspect a dead player to find out their role or kill a player each Night. If they kill a member of the Town or the Delusionist, they will be unable to use either of their abilities during the next two Night phases.
Townie
Townie
Townie
Townie
Townie

Garage Chemist

The Third Party
Wins if they are the last player standing, unless they are hit by an ability.
Delusionist: A retired member of S.L.U.D.G.E. that even now is unknown of his allies and somewhat mentally unstable. They join whichever team (and gain their Win Condition) that uses an ability on him first. If the Mafia uses an ability on them their colour will become Red, they will learn the identities of S.L.U.D.G.E., and they will also be able to collaborate with their S.L.U.D.G.E. cohorts to kill a player each Night. Else if one of the Town members uses an ability on them their colour will become Blue. Furthermore, if they have two or more abilities used on them on the same Night phase, they will go mad, die, and kill those players who used the abilities on them too. This includes Nightkills.

Captain Toad is a normal sheriff who only inspects alignment (card flip). The Ghost is immune to being killed by the Mafia or Gunsmith, but he can still be detected or roleblocked (in case he's not staying home).

Maybe you shouldn't write in green because it's hard to see. I'm not changing it now since it'll reset the poll and that's really nothing major, like, at all
